The Daily Tar Heel: Where is the county headed with curbside recycling?
Gary Kahn: I'm in favor, but have to find money in the budget without increasing taxes. In past years, if we need money we just increase property taxes. It forces people to leave the county. We've got to stop raising taxes.
DTH: How will you handle the persistent issues facing the Rogers Road area?
GK: Basically, that's our main concern right now.
Let's worry about the sewer system and get people hooked up and find money for sewer before the community center.
DTH: How would you allocate funds to the school districts?
GK: We should get rid of the voucher system and put the money back into the pubic education system.
