North Carolina junior forward Kennedy Meeks will be sidelined for several weeks because of a bone bruise on his left knee, the team announced on Monday.
The release says doctors have not determined the exact timetable for Meeks' return, but they expect it to be at least two weeks. The junior will not be available to play starting with Wednesday's home game against Tulane.
After Wednesday's contest, UNC (7-2) travels to Brooklyn to play No. 22 UCLA on Saturday. The No. 11 Tar Heels then play home games against Appalachian State on Dec. 21, UNC-Greensboro on Dec. 28, Clemson on Dec. 30 and Georgia Tech on Jan. 2.
Meeks is currently fourth on the team with 12.3 points per game. He is also second on the team with 7.4 rebounds per game.
Meeks has been plagued by knee trouble this year. His left knee is the same one he sprained against Arkansas during the NCAA Tournament this past March, and Coach Roy Williams said the junior missed a couple of practices in October because he tweaked his knee.
