Halftime update: UNC football vs. Idaho

Five different Tar Heels scored touchdowns in the first half against Idaho to lead North Carolina to a 45-0 halftime lead Saturday.

The Tar Heels opened the scoring on a 36-yard flea flicker in which quarterback Bryn Renner handed the ball to Giovani Bernard, who pitched the ball back for Renner to throw to an open Sean Tapley.

Bernard had two rushing touchdowns, including a 68-yard run that was the longest of his career.

Freshman receiver Quinshad Davis caught the first touchdown of his career on a 35-yard throw from Renner.

UNC blocked two punts in the first half, including tailback Romar Morris’ second blocked punt of the year. Morris blocked a punt in UNC’s failed second-half comeback against Louisville two weeks ago.

UNC scored the most points in a first half since 2000, when the Tar Heels put up 52 against Duke.
