The North Carolina football team unveiled new all-black alternate uniforms during halftime of Saturday’s Spring Game.
The uniforms will be worn on Oct. 17 against Miami on what UNC football is calling “Zero Dark Thursday.”
The event is the first installment of a new “Tar Pit Series,” which will feature a new alternate jersey or helmet one game each year, according to an official UNC release.
“Our kids are excited about the new uniforms,” said head coach Larry Fedora in the release. “They saw them for the first time Friday and they are fired up about wearing them this year. We wanted to design a uniform that connected our team to The Tar Pit, our name for the student section. Make no mistake, Carolina Blue and white will always be our traditional colors.”
