Eight UNC students have won a Fulbright grant, and more winners will be announced on a rolling deadline until mid-May.
Given by the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, the grant allows students to either pursue research or to teach English abroad.
The winners announced so far are Mark Abadi, Julia Ault, Laura Brade, Patrick Dowd, Joshua Ford, Brittany Lehman, Elaine Townsend and Leslie Willis.
Last year, UNC had 18 grant recipients, the 10th most from any school in the country, said Tripp Tuttle, adviser for the Fulbright program at UNC.
