The top-ranked Georgia women's team defeated 16th-ranked UNC
160-138. The Tar Heel men fell to Georgia 164-134.
Both teams won five of 16 events. For the women, senior Summer Mack was a double winner in the 100-yard butterfly and the 100 backstroke. Freshman Molly Freedman won the 200 butterfly, and junior Molly Sullivan did the same in the 1,000 freestyle. The Tar Heels also won the 400 freestyle relay.
On the men's side, junior Chris Helin won the 400 individual medley. Junior Kevin Erndl took the 50 freestyle, junior Kert Johnson won the 100 free and freshman Yrui Suguiyama won the 200 freestyle. UNC also won the 400 freestyle relay.
Rotundi Plays Way Into Main Draw
PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - UNC freshman Julie Rotundi won three consecutive matches to advance to the first round of the main draw at the Riviera ITA All-American Championships.
Once in the first round of the main draw, Rotundi lost to Ipek Senoglu of Pepperdine 6-0, 6-4. She will now play in the consolation round.
