Hood couldn't help but notice the Super Bowl ring adorning John Bunting's right hand as North Carolina's new coach walked into a team meeting at 3:30 p.m at the Kenan Football Center.
And by the time Bunting uttered his first words to the throng of North Carolina players, Hood knew he was serious about winning.
"He walked in, he had that look in his eye like he is determined to turn this program around," Hood said.
Bunting met with UNC's players on Monday afternoon, three weeks after those same players went to the football center to hear Carl Torbush announce he had been fired as the head man.
The Tar Heels' newest coach sported the type of jewelry at the meeting that commands instant respect. Bunting earned a ring as the co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for the NFL-champion St. Louis Rams last year. He also carried the ring -- albeit a much smaller one --
