Like most students at Carolina, we were annoyed by the chaos that accompanied last year's student elections.
So when the farcical campaign of Brian Bersticker for student body president began, we immediately climbed on the Bersticker bandwagon.
When Eric Johnson announced that he was running this year, however, we had to tell Stick that we were going with EJ.
Eric's decision to run demonstrated to us that the student body president could actually impact others in a positive way -- otherwise, Eric never would have run.
As his record indicates, Eric is someone committed to service, not self-aggrandizement.
He started Carolina Cancer Focus, reinvented and headed the Student Ambassador Program and campaigned for the University bond package.
If elected student body president, Eric plans to implement programs that will have an impact on all Carolina students -- from fighting unreasonable tuition increases to promoting diversity among the student body and faculty to working toward increased rights for the disabled on campus.
So when it comes to making Carolina a better place, we know he will deliver.
