Thursday, Feb. 15

Carrboro police arrested Ottieree LaChaiel Farrington, 38, of 316 Vickers Road in Pittsboro, at 3:09 p.m.

Reports state Farrington attempted to pay for $5 worth of gasoline at The Pantry at 500 Jones Ferry Road with a counterfeit $100 bill.

Farrington was detained at a routine traffic stop after her description was released to police, reports state.

She was charged with one felony count of obtaining property by false pretenses. She was released on a written promise to appear in court. Her court date was scheduled for Feb. 15 at Orange County District Court in Hillsborough.

Wednesday, Feb. 14

Chapel Hill police arrested Thomas Robert Shaw, 29, on charges of embezzlement.

Reports state that Shaw embezzled $5,500 cash from the Red Hot & Blue at 115 S. Elliott Road in January.

Shaw was charged with one felony count of embezzlement. He was released on a written promise to appear in court.

His court date was scheduled for Feb. 15 at Orange County District Court in Hillsborough.

Chapel Hill police received reports of damage to property at 7 a.m.

Reports state that an unknown offender damaged a second-floor window of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity house at 114 S. Columbia St.

Leads are exhausted in the case.

Chapel Hill police arrested Michael Eugene Shoffner, 39, of 2735 Thelma St. on charges of larceny.

Reports state that Shoffner and two accomplices stole 11 packs of meat worth $79.63 and four bundles of firewood worth $15.96 from Harris Teeter at 1200 Raleigh Road.

Shoffner was detained during a routine traffic stop. He was charged with one count of larceny and one count of driving without an operator's license.

He was released on a written promise to appear in court. His court date is scheduled for March 19 at Orange County District Court in Hillsborough.

Chapel Hill police arrested Terry Lamont Purefoy, 41, of 1717 Purefoy Drive.

Reports state Purefoy and two accomplices stole 11 packs of meat worth $79.63 and four bundles of firewood worth $15.96 from Harris Teeter at 1200 Raleigh Road.

Purefoy was charged with one count of misdemeanor larceny. He was released on a written promise to appear in court.

Chapel Hill police arrested Shannon Denise Key, 33, of 1717 Purefoy Drive.

Reports state Key and two accomplices stole 11 packs of meat worth $79.63 and a bundle of firewood worth $15.96 from the Harris Teeter at 1200 Raleigh Road.

She was charged with one count of misdemeanor larceny and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was released on a written promise to appear in court. Her court date has been set for March 19 at Orange County District Court in Hillsborough.

Chapel Hill police arrested Larry Alonso Ward on charges of larceny.

Reports state Ward broke into a car at 316 W. Rosemary St. and stole a purse. He used a credit card from the purse to purchase items such as cigarettes, vaseline and candy at Kerr Drug at 109 E. Franklin St.

He was charged with one felony count of breaking and entering to a motor vehicle, one felony count of larceny of a credit card, and one misdemeanor count of larceny.

He was confined on a $5,000 bond at Orange County Jail. His court date was scheduled for Feb. 15 at Orange County District Court in Hillsborough.

Chapel Hill police received reports of breaking and entering and larceny from a motor vehicle at 7:30 a.m.

Reports state an unknown suspect broke the driver's side window of a 1988 Nissan Pathfinder and took six audio and video recordings worth $75.

Leads are exhausted in the case.

Carrboro police received reports of larceny at 5:59 p.m.

The incident occurred at Weaver Street Market at 101 Weaver St. Reports state that two female subjects took three packs of steaks worth $40. The subjects were described as black female twins, 18 to 20 years and about 5 feet 5 inches in height. One of the subjects wore a tan jacket and one wore a jean jacket.

Investigation is continuing in the case.
