Extending on Brandon Briscoe's March 19 guest column, Great Decisions would like to thank Provost Robert Shelton for deciding to fund our program. For the past two decades, Great Decisions has sustained itself with insecure, hand-to-mouth funding from multiple sources on campus. Now the largest program of more than 1,500 nationwide, and the only program run by undergraduates, Great Decisions UNC is, in the words of our umbrella organization president, Noel Lateef of the Foreign Policy Association, "the nation's model grassroots program for increasing international awareness."
As with most achievements, our latest efforts to financially stabilize Great Decisions would not have been possible without the efforts of a host of Tar Heel leaders. In addition to Provost Shelton, Great Decisions thanks Student Body President Brad Matthews, Student Body Treasurer Patrick Frye, Chancellor James Moeser, Ms. Brenda Kirby, Professor James Peacock and Dr. Richard Krasno.
