In the first game, the Tar Heels pounded out 14 hits while pitcher Michael Parrott limited UNC-W to just five. Parrott, who improved to 6-0 with the shutout, struck out six and also hit a solo home run in the fourth inning.
In the second game, the Seahawks won the game by scoring two runs in the bottom of the eighth.
It was the Tar Heels' first extra-inning contest of the season.
This weekend, UNC (13-3-1) hosts the Carolina Classic, a round-robin event that includes Coastal Carolina and Charlotte.
On Saturday, North Carolina faces Charlotte at 11 a.m. and takes on Coastal at 1 p.m. Play begins Sunday at 10 a.m. when the Tar Heels take on Coastal Carolina. At noon, UNC plays Charlotte.
