The Baltimore Sun reported that a junior varsity lacrosse player at St. Paul's videotaped himself having sex at his home with a 15-year-old girl without her knowledge on March 23. The video was shown at the home of a varsity player on March 26 with about 24 players present.
The school canceled the remainder of the varsity season, expelled the junior varsity player and suspended 30 students who watched the tape. Only about eight varsity players were not present when the tape was shown.
Haus said he has not spoken to Conkling but has talked with St. Paul's coach Mitch Whiteley. He said he is confident Conkling was not involved.
"Charlie is a solid student athlete," Haus said. "We recruited him, and he'll be a Tar Heel next year. And we're excited to have him come down and be a part of our program. Obviously, it's tough times not only for him and his teammates, but for the St. Paul's campus and community. The decisions they made are within their program, and hopefully all those kids will learn from that."
