Sunday, April 29

Carrboro police arrested Daniel Elliot Cleaveland, 21, of 1511 Smith Level Road, at 2:19 a.m. for driving while his license was revoked, DWI and improper passing.

Reports state that Cleaveland passed a car on Smith Level Road in a no-passing zone and blew a 0.09 on the intoxilyzer.

Cleaveland was released on a written promise and is scheduled to appear in Orange County District Court in Chapel Hill on May 22.

Chapel Hill police received reports of vandalism to a 1999 Mazda at 2:56 a.m.

Reports state that someone scratched the hood of victim's car and urinated in the front seat while the car was parked at 151 E. Rosemary St. Damages are estimated to be $400 and the case is under further investigation.

Victor Harrington, 18, of 1609 Sedgefield St. in Durham, was arrested by Chapel Hill police at 12:20 p.m. for possession of stolen property.

Reports state that the victim called the cell phone Harrington reportedly stole. Harrington told the victim to meet him to collect the stolen items for a small fee, reports state.

Reports also state that police found Harrington at the intersection of Sykes Street and Craig Street where he returned some of the stolen items.

Harrington was held at Orange County Jail in lieu of a $3,000 unsecured bond and was scheduled to appear in Orange County District Court in Hillsborough on April 30.

Chapel Hill police arrested three men at 2:11 a.m. for maintaining a residence for the purpose of dealing drugs, possessing cocaine and marijuana with the intent to sell and possessing drug paraphernalia.

Jeremy Lee Roberson, 20, James Lee Sharpe, 54, and James Lester Watson, 57, all of 416 Sykes St., were held at Orange County Jail in Hillsborough in lieu of a $10,000 secured bonds each and were scheduled to appear in Orange County District Court in Hillsborough on April 30.

Reports state that officers witnessed a drug transaction take place in front of their residence. Upon searching the residence, investigators found 12 dosage units of cocaine, 3.2 grams of powder cocaine and 110 grams of marijuana under sofa cushions in the living room.

Saturday, April 28

Chapel Hill police cited Charles Brandon McKibben, 20, of 506 Sunridge Drive, Apt. 101 in Blacksburg, Va., at 3:55 a.m. for carrying an open container of alcohol.

Reports state that police received a call regarding five suspicious men looking into windows at Fraternity Court.

Officers observed McKibben with an open container on the sidewalk and McKibben ran behind a fraternity house, reports state.

McKibben is scheduled to appear in Orange County District Court in Chapel Hill on June 5.

Omar Busutil, 38, of 841 Airport Road, was arrested by Chapel Hill police at 6:53 p.m. for assaulting a female. Busutil is being held at Orange County Jail without bond and is scheduled to appear in Orange County District Court in Hillsborough on June 4.

Carrboro police arrested Ignacio Arturo Ampuda Ramirez, 30, of 306 Estes Drive Extension, D-2, at 12:11 a.m. for possessing stolen goods, DUI and failing to stop at a red light.

Reports state that Ramirez was in possession of a stolen license plate.

Ramirez was released on a written promise and is scheduled to appear in Orange County District Court in Chapel Hill on June 5.

Friday, April 27

Carrboro police arrested Rita Regina Baldwin, 37, of 1709 Rusch Road at 9:13 p.m. for public urination and indecent exposure.

Reports state that an observer witnessed her urinate at the U building of Abbey Court Apartments at 501 Jones Ferry Road. Baldwin was released on a written promise and is scheduled to appear in Orange County District Court in Hillsborough on May 14.

Carrboro police arrested Gregorio Vidal Avendano, 23, of 306 Estes Drive, Apt. E-10, at 4:28 p.m. for felony hit and run. Reports state that Avendano hit a pedestrian, a planting bed and a sign while entering Estes Drive Apartments.

The pedestrian was taken to UNC Hospitals, reports state.

Avendano was held at Orange County Jail in lieu of a $500 secured bond and was scheduled to appear in Orange County District Court in Hillsborough on April 30.
