So throw in a nonconference schedule filled with tough teams, and life could be quite difficult for North Carolina this winter.
"Our nonconference schedule is challenging," UNC second-year coach Matt Doherty said. "Hampton beat Iowa State in the NCAA Tournament, St. Joseph's and Georgia State both did well in the NCAA Tournament, and the College of Charleston is always a difficult opponent.
"These are very good teams that might not have marquee names. Of course, we add them to teams like Indiana, Kentucky and Connecticut, and I think we have an outstanding schedule."
The Jan. 19 game at Connecticut might be played in Hartford or Storrs, Conn. UConn has not scheduled the site at this time.
UNC kicks off its ACC schedule at home versus Georgia Tech on Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. The Blue/White game date has not been released yet.
