The Goalpost

Cans of yellow paint and paintbrushes, intended for the replacement goalpost at the west end of Kenan Stadium, encircle grounds supervisor Mark Gaines.

Gaines says he was upset when students tore down the goalpost after the victory over Florida State University six weeks ago because it meant a lot more work for him.

Football Reporter

Neil Amato arrives at Kenan Stadium to interview UNC football players about the upcoming game. As the Herald Sun sports reporter steps onto the track, several other reporters make their way down the stadium steps.

At the tunnel, the reporters gather together and joke about making a pact not to interview certain players.

"I say we just don't interview Curry for a while," teases one reporter from Carolina Blue.

As the players begin to drift into practice, each of the reporters calls out the names of the players whom they'd like to interview. But even before Amato can finish speaking with his first interviewee, his cell phone rings.

Other reporters continue to scribble down the quotes of players getting ready for practice.

"That's ECU calling," Amato explains to the player.
