The meeting, sponsored by The Daily Tar Heel, will be held at 7 p.m. today in Student Union 205-206. Cake and drinks will be served.
"The semester's last ASL meeting will not only examine and critique the DTH's coverage this year but also will introduce next year's editors to next year's student leaders," said Russ Lane, the DTH's special projects coordinator. "Current group's officers are encouraged to bring their officers-elect so that they form a healthy working relationship with the DTH now instead of August.
"For 2002-03's student leaders, this is an excellent networking opportunity."
As customary with the semester's ASL meetings, student groups will have time to announce any events or happenings with their group.
But the meeting also will address the nature of the ASL, and DTH editors will ask for feedback for how to improve the program, which began in 1999.
"Several people have approached me about using the ASL to link student groups together for collaborative work," Lane said. "I think this is a fascinating idea, and I'm interested to see how student leaders think the ASL could or should change to accommodate this."
DTH Editor-select Kim Minugh said she hopes many of next year's student leaders attend the meeting.
"Next year's editors, including me, are looking forward to meeting the students who we'll be in close contact with next year," she said. "Hopefully we can use ASL next year to establish respectful and productive relationships."
