Senior outside hitter Laura Greene led the Tar Heels with 17 kills, and senior outside hitter Malaika Underwood added 18 digs.
The Tar Heels took an early 7-3 lead in game one. Charlotte eventually tied the score at 12-12 and again at 19-19 before the Tar Heels grabbed two points on consecutive kills by outside hitter Molly Pyles and middle hitter Holly Strauss, respectively, for a 21-19 lead. Charlotte got back within one point twice, but UNC held on, clinching the game on a kill by Greene. The Tar Heels cruised to a 30-19 win in game two.
Charlotte trailed 26-24 in game three, but mounted a 6-2 run down the stretch to take a game from the Tar Heels for the first time since 1993. North Carolina reasserted itself to win game four 30-25, clinching the match on another Greene kill.
Men's Soccer Downs Campbell 7-1
BUIES CREEK -- Marcus Storey scored three goals and North Carolina broke to an early lead en route to a 7-1 men's soccer victory against Campbell on Tuesday night at the Eakes Athletic Complex. The three goals tied a career high for Storey, who also had a hat trick against Georgia State in 2001.
Storey scored twice during a four-goal onslaught by the 13th-ranked Tar Heels in the first 12 minutes of the match. He netted his third score in the 78th minute, shooting past back-up keeper William Holland after intercepting a clearance.
Ryan Kneipper added two goals and David Testo had a goal and assist for North Carolina, which improved to 6-2 on the year while winning its third straight match. Campbell dropped to 1-4 on the season with its fourth-consecutive setback.
