Ehringhaus Field Lot Set to Open Today

Previously, S7 permits were honored in the Ramshead lot, a designated S5 lot. S7 permit holders now must park in the gravel lot that previously was part of Ehringhaus Field.

After today, S7 permits will not be accepted in the Ramshead lot and vehicles will be ticketed. Fewer spaces were sold in the S5 lot than last semester to allow for overflow from the incomplete S7 lot.

The S5 lot will close in the spring to make room for further work on the Ramshead project, which is expected to be one of the biggest construction endeavors of the year.

The project is a three-story parking structure that is expected to have room for 700 vehicles. Officials have said that, when completed, the project will offer about 400 more visitor parking spaces on Mid Campus.

In addition to the parking deck, the structure, which will be located between the Kenan Fieldhouse and the George Watts Hill Alumni Center, should have a few amenities.

The complex is set to include a dining facility, grocery store and pedestrian bridges connecting Manning and Stadium drives.

The anticipated date for completion is January 2005.
