Local teacher charged with driving while intoxicated
A teacher at North Chatham School was arrested Tuesday morning and charged with driving while intoxicated on Longview Road in Chapel Hill, police reports state.
Jennifer Anne Halsey, 24, of 433 Cedar Lake Road, was found hanging out of the driver's side window of her Honda Civic at 2:17 a.m. when police responded to a complaint that a vehicle was stopped in the roadway, reports state.
According to reports, she never answered whether she would submit to field sobriety tests and registered a blood alcohol level of 0.16.
According to reports, Halsey also was charged with having no driver's license.
A co-worker at North Chatham said Halsey was unavailable for comment Tuesday because she had gone home sick.
She was released on a written promise to appear at District Criminal Court in Chapel Hill on Nov. 9, reports state.
Woman conceals, shoplifts sausage in baby stroller
A local woman was arrested Monday for shoplifting a sausage from A Southern Season on 201 Estes Road in Chapel Hill, police reports state.
