- "The Devil Wears Prada," Lauren Weisberger - This book is a hilarious portrayal of Andi, a recent college graduate and an aspiring writer for "The New Yorker."
Unfortunately, Andi is stuck picking up Starbucks orders for her boss, Miranda - the biggest fashion editor in the world.
Andi battles through the world of high fashion, trading in her Gap skirt for Manolo Blahniks and also her sanity. A perfect, lipstick-lit book to aimlessly read when you need to zone out or escape from your ECON 10 homework.
- "Queer as Folk" - Though this TV show often portrays gay men as stereotypes who do drugs, party and use reckless sexual abandon, it can also be a guilty pleasure.
The storylines can be cheesy, but big issues like AIDS, gay rights and gay bashing sometimes take precedence over explicit sex scenes. But, hey, those are fun too. Especially when they involve Gale Harold as the jerk with a tiny, Grinchy heart of gold.
- "Lost" - This new show on ABC appears to be a hybrid between "Gilligan's Island" and "Jurassic Park," as survivors of a plane crash attempt to piece together the details of their plane crash, tend to one another's various ailments and protect themselves from a loud, unseen something in the woods.
It sounds stupid, but the show is already gaining fans. Web sites have popped up attempting to guess what the hell is going on and where director/producer/writer J.J. Abrams is taking this show.
Many might watch just to see what direction the show is going to take, and even if it's a stupid one, I'll probably still watch.
But if mid-'90s heartthrob Matthew Fox wakes up in the end of the season and this show has all been a bad dream while he's still on "Party of Five," Abrams better hide.
