Legislature to meet in Nov. for special incentives session
RALEIGH - Gov. Mike Easley on Wednesday announced a special legislative session for next week so legislators can consider an incentives package for a major computer manufacturer, Easley's office said.
Easley sent a letter to legislators asking them to return Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. to vote upon the economic incentives, Easley spokesman Ernie Seneca said late Wednesday.
Seneca declined to identify the manufacturer that would receive the incentives.
Sen. Linda Garrou, D-Forsyth, confirmed late Wednesday the company is interested in locating in the Triad region. She declined to name the company.
State and local industrial recruiters in North Carolina have been competing with several states trying to attract a Dell Inc. computer plant.
