"The Last Samurai" - Tom Cruise delivers an amazing performance in this film as a haunted Civil War veteran whose experience slaughtering Native Americans qualifies him to do the same to the ancient samurai culture in Japan.

But when he's captured by the enemy in the effort to do so, he develops respect for the Samurai tradition. The shell of a man quits drowning himself in the bottle in favor of structured combat as an outlet for his tortured soul.

Offering up an alternative to AA, a comment on American imperialism and a whole lot o' Tom, "The Last Samurai" is an engaging and entertaining movie, so rent it. Do it.

"He's Just Not That Into You: The No-Excuses Truth to Understanding Guys" - Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo, authors of this best seller, capitalize on one of the best lines ever uttered in one the best shows ever created.

That's right, "Sex and the City."

Miranda had an epiphany; maybe you will, too. So put down the chocolate ice cream and the mandatory salty sidekick, because you'll feel fat tomorrow. Buy the book instead to heal your hurting heart.

And just for the record: If he doesn't call you in three days, he's just not that into you. And that's OK.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, 2: Battle Nexus - What's better than "Halo 2"? Well, nothing, but Michaelangelo and Leonardo put up a good fight.

Jump from iceberg to iceberg and dodge boulders all from the comfort of your couch. Michaelangelo does a cool flutter kick, too.

The 'rents can't cut you off, so play to your heart's content or at least until your significant other threatens to leave you ... again.

It'll add spice to your humdrum and insignificant existence. Heroes in a half-shell - Turtle Power!
