Journalism dean search narrows to 3 candidates
The search for a dean of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication narrowed to three candidates this week, said Provost Robert Shelton.
Members of the search committee submitted a recommendation with three names to Shelton this week. He now is faced with the task of determining the top candidate, then following through with negotiations.
This leg of the selection process could go quickly or drag on for another month, he said.
Counter-offers and significant others are just two hurdles that could slow the process, Shelton said.
“You don’t know those factors until you start negotiations,” Shelton said.
Shelton said he would like to submit a final recommendation to the UNC Board of Trustees by its May meeting.
