Tori Ralston is the featured artist at The ArtsCenter gallery exhibit that runs though Aug. 31. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and admission is free. Visit www.artscenterlive.org for more information.

 

The Jeopardy Brain Bus will be arriving at 11:30 a.m. today at Fetzer Gym to look for students to participate in the 2005 College Championship. The tournament will feature 15 students from the nation’s top colleges and will pay a grand prize of $100,000 in cash to the champion.

 

The Carolina Hurricanes and the Triangle Business Journal are sponsoring a business showcase from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the RBC Center at 1400 Edwards Mill Rd. Event organizers say any business interested in increasing sales and promoting products should attend.

 

Campus Crusade for Christ will hold a freshman pizza picnic at 5:30 p.m. today outside South Building. Students interested in the group can meet the leaders and find out more information about the organization.

 

N.C. Hillel is hosting a pizza-eating and volleyball-playing event from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Hinton James Residence Hall. The group also will host an outing at The West End Wine Bar, located at 450 W. Franklin St., for graduate students.

 

The Panhellenic Recruitment Kick-Off will take place at 7 p.m. today in the Student Union. Each woman interested in joining a sorority must pay a registration fee. Because the Aug. 17 deadline has passed, there is a $50 late fee. Registration is open until midnight Tuesday.

 

The Chapel Hill Public Arts Commission’s “Sculpture Visions” exhibition — an annual art program that temporarily places large-scale sculptures in public places — is on view throughout town. A postcard featuring images of this year’s sculptures and a map that locates the work will be available soon. Call the arts commission at 968-2888 (ext. 377) for a copy of the postcard.

 

Student Congress will hold its first committee meetings of the semester today.

 

The Chapel Hill Leads Group will meet from 7:45 a.m. to 9 a.m. Wednesday at Aurora Restaurant at 1350 Raleigh Rd. The group will discuss business tips, among other issues, and will listen to visiting speakers.

 

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Great Hall of the Student Union. Students can make an appointment to give blood at http://givesblood.org. The on-campus blood drive will be held Sept. 8.
