Orange County personnel director to retire in March

Orange County's personnel director for 15 years, Elaine Holmes, will retire March 1, 2006, county officials said.

During her tenure, Holmes has worked to recruit, compensate and train employees. Her accomplishments include the integration of several assimilated organizations into county government and the completion of a countywide job classification and pay study of county positions.

 

Orange County committee to host homelessness forum

The Orange County Human Services Advisory Commission is hosting a forum on ending homelessness from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at the United Church of Chapel Hill, 1321 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

The committee's 17th forum is titled, "Welcome Home: A Bold Proposal to End Homelessness."

N.C. State Treasurer Richard Moore and Philip Mangano, executive director of the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness, will speak at the event.

The public is encouraged to attend. The $12.50 registration fee will benefit Orange Congregations in Mission and the Inter-Faith Council on Social Services.
