Heels fill holes with '06 class

  • Johnny White, RB White is rivals.com 12th-ranked player from North Carolina. He is a versatile back with the speed to break upfield and the power to clean up on 3rd and short. White's athleticism and natural running ability surely will help the program in a few years when Ronnie McGill finishes his tenure.
  • Hakeem Nicks, WR Nicks, a four-star player, according to rivals.com, brings a fresh face and superior size (6-foot-3) to the UNC receiving corps, which was decimated this offseason. In addition to losing Pollock and Wallace Wright to graduation, junior Mike Mason was dismissed from the team for undisclosed reasons.
  • Deunta Williams, no position This guy's numbers make you think he could do anything. With a 4.4 40-yard-dash, a 36-inch vertical and 22 reps on the bench, Williams has the athleticism to play both sides of the ball at a variety of positions. That speed, power and size probably will lead him to a role as a safety and should have an immediate impact at UNC.
  • Darrius Massenburg, DE Technically, he was supposed to be a member of the 2005 class, but at the last minute he opted for the prep-school route. He has continued to add size to his 6-foot-4 frame and will continue to fill out in upcoming years. His strong tackling ability and nack to break through the O-line should land him a spot quickly.
  • Jarrell Miller, LB If there is one guy in this class that has the potential to be among this school's best, it's him. Ranked as the seventh-best inside linebacker by rivals.com, Miller has the ability to make a huge impact in the middle of the field. With a strong athletic frame (6-foot-3, 235 lbs.) to take on bigger players and the speed to drop back into coverage, Miller is the kind of player who has the tools to adjust to any situation.
