Cable franchise management tops town's legislative needs

  • State legislation to raise the minimum wage;
  • Funding for additional substance-abuse treatment facilities and more Alcohol Law Enforcement officers, who are state-funded, in Chapel Hill;
  • Funding of the Voice Interoperability Project for Emergency Responders - VIPER - that would allow law enforcement across the region to better collaborate in the case of a major disaster;
  • A local bill that would require developers to contribute to public transportation in lieu of infrastructure improvements based on the impact of their proposed developments. Contact the City Editor at citydesk@unc.edu.
