Two people were arrested over the weekend in separate incidents on charges of possession with intent to sell or distribute cocaine, according to Chapel Hill police reports.
Reports state that Tracy Eugene Farrington, 42, of 209 Apt. B Sunset St., was arrested at 11 p.m. Saturday on charges of felony possession with intent to sell or distribute cocaine, felony possession of a schedule II drug and a misdemeanor probation violation.
According to reports, Farrington ran from officers who were trying to serve him with warrants for failing to appear in court on drug-related charges. Reports state he led officers on a lengthy foot chase before being caught. He then was also charged with resisting arrest.
Reports state that Farrington was transported to the Orange County Jail on a $2,500 secured bond for the first three charges and that $500 was added to his bond for the charge of resisting arrest.
He is scheduled to appear in court May 1.
In a separate incident, reports state that Kenneth Pierre, 23, of 501 N.C. 54 Apt. K6 in Carrboro was arrested at 9:40 p.m. Friday on U.S. 15-501 near Willow Drive on charges of felony possession with intent to distribute cocaine, maintaining a vehicle for the purpose of selling or distributing crack cocaine, resisting arrest and concealing or covering the numbers on a license plate.
He was transported to the Orange County Jail on a $50,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court today.
A UNC student was arrested on charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, misdemeanor fleeing to elude arrest, provisional licensee driving after consuming alcohol under 21 and driving while intoxicated early Sunday morning on Cameron Avenue, according to University police reports.
An officer observed Erin Summers, 19, of 620 Granville Towers East, almost strike a pedestrian with her car on Manning Drive, reports state. The officer then attempted to pull her over, reports state.
Summers continued driving across campus until she stopped in front of Peabody Hall, reports state.
After further investigation, the officer discovered that the owner of the vehicle did not give Summers permission to drive it, reports state.
Summers registered a .15 on the Intoxilyzer test. She was taken to the Department of Public Safety for processing. Her court date is scheduled for June 5, and she has been released from custody on a $1,000 unsecured bail.
