  • A pair of local residents were arrested at 8:30 p.m. Sunday after fighting on the 200 block of West Franklin Street, according to Chapel Hill police reports. Darius Levon Harris, 19, of 232 S. Estes Drive, and UNC Hospitals employee Christopher Leander Stroud, 18, of 202 Alabama Ave., in Carrboro, were charged with public affray, reports state. Reports state they were released with written promises to appear in district court in Hillsborough on May 6.
  • Douglas Melvin Morrow Jr., of Greensboro, was arrested at 9:30 p.m. Sunday on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, according to Chapel Hill police reports. Chapel Hill police spokeswoman Jane Cousins said Morrow was arrested after he was seen putting a 9 mm pistol on the dashboard of his vehicle. Morrow was released with a written promise to appear in court and is scheduled to appear in district court in Chapel Hill on June 5.
  • Umar Evans, 26, of Durham, was arrested at 2:28 a.m. Monday on charges of possession with intent to sell marijuana , according to Chapel Hill police reports. Reports state Evans was taken to the Orange County Jail on a $750 secured bond and was scheduled to appear in district criminal court in Hillsborough on Monday.
  • A Durham woman was arrested Sunday on charges of driving with a suspended license, according to University police reports. Upon further investigation, police found that Iesha Bonnine Parker had an outstanding warrant for felonious larceny, reports state. An officer who was on foot stopped Parker after she was seen driving left of the center on Cameron Avenue, according to reports. Parker had been cited earlier Sunday evening for allowing a 4 year old to ride in the front passenger seat without being in car child seat, reports state. She was detained and transported to Orange County Sheriff's Office where she was issued a $2,000 unsecured bond and released, according to reports.
  • A water fountain was vandalized on the second floor of Carmichael Residence Hall, according to University police reports. Police found the water fountain pulled off the wall Sunday morning, and water had flooded the hall, according to reports. Damage was reported to be $500 for the fountain, $100 for the carpet and another $100 for building materials, reports state.
