A Chapel Hill woman was arrested at 1:20 a.m. Wednesday on charges of attempting to commit robbery, according to Chapel Hill police reports.
Rita Baldwin, 42, of an unknown address in Chapel Hill, was arrested at 325 W. Rosemary St. after she grabbed $11 from a person's hand in front of Key Food Mart, reports state.
She was held in lieu of $3,000 bail and was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday, reports state.
A 51-year-old Carrboro woman was robbed and assaulted Tuesday afternoon while she was walking on North Graham Street, Chapel Hill police reports state.
The suspect grabbed the woman by the throat and ripped her purse, which contained $180, from her, according to reports.
The victim did not have any injuries, reports state.
Police spokeswoman Jane Cousins said that the suspect was a friend of the victim but that he has not been charged. The case is under further investigation.
A UNC sophomore was cited for the second day in a row on charges of underage drinking, according to Chapel Hill police reports.
Alyssa Haight, 19, of Charlotte, was arrested at 2:04 a.m. Wednesday at 310 W. Franklin St. on charges of underage possession of a malt beverage, public consumption and having an open container of alcohol, reports state.
She was also cited for underage possession of alcohol on East Rosemary Street early Tuesday, reports state.
Haight is scheduled to appear in District Criminal Court on Oct. 4.
A Pittsboro woman was arrested at 310 N. Greensboro St. early Wednesday morning on charges of driving while impaired, Carrboro police reports state.
Colleen Madara, 42, of 50-B Allendale Drive, was arrested after a police officer saw her drive into a trash receptacle at the corner of Harris Teeter, reports state.
According to reports, Madara said she had used prescription medication and had been drinking. Her blood alcohol level was .22, reports state.
