  • A woman was arrested on misdemeanor charges of child abuse Tuesday evening, according to Chapel Hill Police reports. Reports state Sandra De Leon Santos, 37, also known as Sandra Gonzalez was arrested at 5:23 p.m. at 507 Craig St., B. Reports state that Santos, an employee of Wee Care Inc., was released on a written promise to appear in court Oct. 2.
  • A UNC student was arrested Wednesday morning on charges of underage possession of alcohol, according to University police reports. Freshman Jack Miller, 18, was arrested after a patrolling officer saw him by South Road and Stadium Drive and found him to be underage, reports state. According to police reports, 14 cans were discarded after Miller was issued a citation.
  • Matthew Caison, 19, a UNC sophomore, was arrested Tuesday afternoon on charges of misdemeanor larceny, according to University police reports. Caison was issued a criminal summons at Whitehead Residence Hall. The trial date for the case has been set for Sept. 21.
  • A man was arrested late Tuesday on charges of failure to appear in court and possession of cocaine, according to Chapel Hill police reports. Reports state Luis Enrique Rodrigu Castillo, 36, of 501 N.C. 54 Bypass, F9, was arrested at 11:29 p.m. at 100 W. Franklin St. He originally was arrested on a warrant issued by another jurisdiction for failing to appear in court, but in a search incident to arrest he was found in possession of a suspected controlled substance, reports state. Reports state Castillo was released on a written promise to appear in court Aug. 30.
