Group endorses three fee increases

Leaders anticipate few controversies

  • A $6.70 increase for the education component of the Education and Technology fee would provide upgrades to computer software and hardware and pay some personnel costs. The fee supports University Career Services and various course enhancements.
  • An $8.80 increase for the technology component of the Education and Technology fee would cover costs related to inflation and extra personnel. The fee funds computer labs, student Web services, and other technology services.
  • A $6 hike for the Student Transit fee would help pay for Chapel Hill Transit expansions and new P2P handi-vans and would put the student government-run Safe Ride program - which offers extended hours for some Chapel Hill Transit routes - on stable financial footing.
