  • Braam Kadir Benbenu, of Graham, was arrested at 10:24 p.m. Friday on charges of driving with a suspended license and manufacturing schedule VI drugs, Chapel Hill police reports state. Benbenu was arrested at the corner of Cameron Avenue and Mallette Street, according to reports. Reports state officers found two ounces of marijuana during the arrest. Benbenu is being held in Orange County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 17 in Hillsborough.
  • Bailey Owen Ayscue, 30, 800 Pritchard Ave. Ext., apt A-16, was arrested at 9:38 p.m. Friday on charges of driving with a suspended license and possession of open beverages in the vehicle, Chapel Hill police reports state. Officers pulled Ayscue over at the Kangaroo gas station at the corner of East Franklin Street and Estes Drive after noticing his registration tag was expired, reports state. He had two open Icehouse beers in the vehicle, according to reports. Ayscue's passenger, Daniel Elliot Cleaveland, 26, of Wilmington, also was arrested on an active warrant dated Oct. 14 for charges of assault and battery, reports state. Cleaveland was released on written promise to appear Oct. 19 in District Criminal Court in Hillsborough. Ayscue also was released on written promise and is scheduled to appear in administrative traffic court Nov. 1 in Hillsborough.
  • An incident of larceny from a vehicle was reported at about 1 p.m. Saturday on South Columbia Street, according to Chapel Hill police reports. Someone broke into the car between 11 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 a.m. Sunday by prying open the passenger's door using a jimmy or other pry tool, reports state. Among the items stolen were a video iPod, a PDA, a pair of sunglasses and a keyless entry module, reports state. The victim reported a total of $2,049 in losses of property and vehicle damages.
  • Multiple people were charged with underage drinking violations last weekend, according to Chapel Hill police reports. Reports states nine people were charged with underage possession of alcoholic beverages, and four people were charged with having open containers of alcohol.
