Senior citizen flustered by column's lack of respect

TO THE EDITOR:

I am a "" senior citizen "" whose husband is a retired physics professor at UNC. I would like to respond to Andrea's Sept. 12 column (""Much to borrow from local seniors"") in the Friday DTH.

I am a 76-year-old woman who read with interest your Friday column in the DTH.

My response was one of surprise that a beautiful young woman with all the privileges and pleasures of youth could be so contemptuous of a group of people whose only offense is that they are old.

It made me wonder if you actually know any of the intelligent" vital and giving people whom you dismissed with such callous casualness.

When you are old and you will be I hope that you will be appreciated and respected by the generation that comes after you.
