TO THE EDITOR:
In response to Dane Rogers' letter to the editor (DTH'S election coverage was unethical and biased"" Nov. 6): while I agree that news reporting should be accurate, clear, complete and fair, I do not see how that applies to an editorial page.
When I open the DTH to the editorial section, the first thing I see is Opinion"" stamped in boldface across the top of the page. Opinions are inherently biased and ""unfair"" — not to mention that the editor's note clearly states that the items found on the editorial page ""do not necessarily represent the opinions of The Daily Tar Heel or its staff.""
The purpose of an editorial is to offer a single opinion regarding a topic. Also" editorial boards of The New York Times" The Washington Post and The (Raleigh) News & Observer endorsed candidates.
The complaint of being ""unfair and unethical"" should be made to the DTH editorial board" not the DTH for expressing its opinion. But then again isn't that what they do?
