Tar Heels fall to Marshall

After coming from 2 sets down to beat Tennesee on Friday, North Carolina's women’s volleyball team hoped to keep to continue their win streak when they took on Marshall early Saturday. Unfortunately, the Thundering Herd had different plans.

The heels lost three straight sets to Marshall. All three sets were 25-21. Among the many troubles the Heels dealt with, defense proved to be their main difficulty. There were a lot of dropped balls, a lot of missed cues, and a number of lost opportunities. Additionally, the Heels failed to communicate on a lot of passes.

The sets were still close, though. UNC rallied back from a 18-7 deficit in the first set, led by strong play from Megan Owens, who came into the set after Marshall led 14-7. The second set almost mirrored the first, as the Heels scored four when down 24-17, but fell short of the victory. In the final set, UNC led for the first half, but game up the lead, and ultimately sealed the loss for the match.

They hope to put something together against a tough Colorado State opponent tonight, and pull off the upset.
