UNC's senior forward Deon Thompson leads all scorers with 15 points and five rebounds. Marcus Ginyard has nine. Thompson has been the offense for UNC so far, shooting 6-for-10 from the field.
In the opening period, UNC shot 52.6 percent from the field, including 2-for-4 from beyond the arc. Freshman John Henson sank his first three-point bucket of the season — it was just the third shot he's attempted from beyond the arc. Henson and Ed Davis are both perfect from the field.
But the Tar Heels are struggling at the foul line, shooting 4-for-8 so far.
Nevada has been led by Armon Johnson (10 points) and Luke Babbitt (eight points, five rebounds).
