UNC leads Boston College 21-13 after sloppy half

In a turnover-filled game, North Carolina leads Boston College 21-13 at halftime.

The two teams have combined to give the ball away six times. T.J. Yates has thrown two interceptions, and Erik Highsmith also lost a fumble.

Thanks to the ball-hawking North Carolina defense, it looked like the Tar Heels were going to run away with this one early on.

Defensive lineman Cam Thomas returned a fumble for his first career touchdown, and cornerback Kendric Burney returned an interception 29 yards for another score.

Those two defensive scores, both in the first quarter, gave the Tar Heels an early 21-0 lead.

But the UNC offense seemed intent on keeping BC in the game. Thanks to three giveaways, BC ended the half with 13 unanswered points.

UNC has now scored seven non-offensive touchdowns this season (six defensive and one kick return).

Burney has picked off four passes in the last two weeks, and he set a school record with his third career pick-six.
