North Carolina's 80-73 defeat of Nevada (2-3) wasn't the prettiest or most memorable of wins the Tar Heels have delivered under coach Roy Williams. But it was one that will hold plenty of clout in the NCAA record books.
The win was No. 600 for Williams, who coached wearing a sling on his arm due to his recent shoulder surgery.
Deon Thompson led the Tar Heels (6-1) with 23 points, and Larry Drew II had 10 assists. Those are career highs for both players.
The game was closer than expected, as UNC trailed the Wolfpack by two with 6:55 to play in the second half before surging into the lead.
