CHARLOTTE — Andrew Janocko waited just long enough to give Pittsburgh a bowl win.
Facing fourth and two with les than three minutes to play, the Panthers' sophomore holder knew that the goal posts 47 yards away were a tall order for kicker Dan Hutchins. He also knew that North Carolina would be coming hard for a block.
So he waited to call for the ball just a moment longer than he had all game — and the Tar Heels jumped.
The resulting penalty gave Pitt (10-3) a fresh set of downs, and with 1:05 to play, Hutchins booted home a 33-yard field goal to give the Panthers the win, 19-17 in the Car Care Bowl.
Dion Lewis earned MVP honors with 159 yards and a touchdown on the ground. He also led Pitt's 17-play game wininng drive, which also took up 8:47 and left UNC (8-5) with less than a minute to respond.
Ryan Houston led UNC with 83 yards on the ground. T.J. Yates went 19-for-32 with two touchdowns.
