The Tar Heels ran away from Marshall 98-61 Tuesday night, using a decisive 18-0 run near the beginning of the second half to deliver the knockout blow to the Thundering Herd.
Marshall had won seven straight games before North Carolina broke its winning streak.
UNC had five players in double figures, and were led by Ed Davis' 19 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore Tyler Zeller added 18 off the bench.
David Wear took junior Will Graves' place in the Tar Heels' starting five. Wear scored five points, while Graves poured in 13 points.
