TO THE EDITOR:
Rarely do I have an opportunity to attend a game in the Dean Dome. So, as a senior citizen and age-old Tar Heel fan (my family ties extend from 1802 to the present day), I cherish each visit regardless of the score.
Saturday, Jan. 16 was such a day. Everywhere I looked there was a sea of Carolina Blue. Despite the foibles of the basketball game, the students — even when down 20 points — were going “jump, jump jump,” the band played, the noise was deafening and the fans roared.
I was proud to note the traditional loyalty to “Roy’s Boys!”
But we would be amiss if we did not notice the cheerleaders. They were fabulous, and must spend hours of time and effort perfecting their timing and execution.
So, as the season progresses, let us take a few minutes to send accolades and a “thank you” for their work.
