TO THE EDITOR:
Thank you, Carolina, for electing me as your next Carolina Athletic Association president. Each vote counted, and I appreciate your confidence in my ability to lead this organization next year. I am incredibly excited to work hard to involve you in reaching each goal outlined in my platform.
In response to Krysta Workman’s letter (“Eliminating phases would force students to camp,” Feb. 12), I would like to point out that an elimination of the phase system would not create our own “Krzyzewskiville.” I would encourage her to examine more closely the platform on which I was elected.
My goal is to fill the Smith Center and to have students be able to sit with their friends. I will work with a student ticket task force, which will be formed after my cabinet is selected, to determine which options (one ticket, two ticket, general admission, phases, etc.) are best for our campus as a whole.
Other than a definite move away from the current policy, nothing is certain, so I would caution against any false assumptions.
I strongly encourage Ms. Workman or any other student wanting to be active in Carolina Athletics to apply for a position on the CAA cabinet. Applications are now available and are due by Feb. 24. All positions are open. Please e-mail me at bcfinch@email.unc.edu for an application or for more information.
I am excited to serve you, and I want to surround myself with passionate, dedicated individuals who also share the same vision for Carolina athletics. Go Heels!
