TO THE EDITOR:
Eleven million people died in the Holocaust, roughly 300,000 in Darfur have died since 2003, and the world is still watching. With such overwhelming figures, do you think we will ever see the light at the end of the tunnel?
This year, the Residence Hall Association and the National Residence Hall Honorary, along with other organizations on campus, have come together to prepare UNC’s first Tunnel of Oppression. The tunnel is an interactive, multimedia tour designed to challenge people’s ideas and perceptions of different forms of oppression on both a local and global scale. It aims to break down the barriers that divide those who might not understand oppression and those who live it everyday.
The event, free of charge, will be held Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in Cobb Community with tours starting at 5:50 p.m. and running every 20 minutes until 9:00 p.m. Registration closes soon, so be sure to register at tunnel.unc.edu.
