Most people make their college decisions based on major offerings, athletics or campus aesthetics, but the caliber of North Carolina Public Radio is what caught senior journalism major Will Gorham’s eye.
“I didn’t know about the rivalry with Duke. I didn’t know how popular the school was nationwide. I honestly was looking at being near public radio,” said Gorham, an intern at WUNC 91.5 FM.
According to Program Director David Brower, Gorham’s decision to involve himself with WUNC specifically was a wise choice.
“Career-wise, it’s a destination, and for our listeners, we outperform our market size,” said Brower, who has worked in public radio since his teenage years and has listened to Chapel Hill radio stations just as long.
