UNC’s musical theater group Pauper Players presents “Into the Woods” in the Union Cabaret beginning at 8 p.m. tonight and running through Tuesday.
Olivia Myrick, associate producer of the play, said the student-run program is great for students who enjoy theater as a hobby.
“It’s really great because all you need is a little bit of talent and a lot of passion,” she said.
“Into the Woods” is a story about classic fairy tale characters who have realistic human flaws, she said. The musical forces characters to face real-life problems that the original, ideal fairy tales do not address.
“The very realistic spin on a classic story makes it really relatable,” Myrick said.
Along with a talented pit band, Myrick said that the talent of the student-actors in the roles makes the play great.
Tickets are $7 and are available at the Union Box Office or at the door. Shows are at 8 p.m. each night with an additional show at 2 p.m. Sunday.
