In what will be their last chance to qualify for the upcoming ACC Tournament, the baseball team is set to begin their final series for the season today against Virginia Tech.
The Tar Heels enter the home series after defeating Charlotte 8-4 Tuesday night, but also after having been swept over the weekend in a crucial series against top ranked Virginia.
With the losses against the Cavaliers, UNC drops to 11-16 in conference play and will have to better N.C. State’s 12-15 record if they hope to qualify for the ACC Tournament.
Va. Tech is currently ranked No. 4 in the ACC Coastal Division, just in front of North Carolina with a conference record of 16-11.
The Tar Heels have not faced the Hokies yet this season, but hope to continue their eight-game winning streak at home.
UNC will kick off the series tonight at 6 p.m. when they take on the Hokies at Boshamer Stadium. Games continue on Friday night at 7 p.m. and Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
