The No. 4 seeded softball team will take on No. 5 seed N.C. State for the second year in a row on Friday in the first round of the ACC Championship in Blacksburg, Va.
The Tar Heels faced the Wolfpack three times this season in their annual series, and were only able to defeat them once.
In ACC Championship play, UNC has lost four of the past five meetings against the Wolfpack.
This year, the Tar Heels have the edge, though, having spent 10 weeks during the regular season in the top 25 of a national poll.
The game will be broadcast live via video-stream at theACC.com, and the winner will go on to face Georgia Tech or Boston College on Saturday in the semifinals.
