UNC Athletic Director Dick Baddour has confirmed in a press release that the NCAA has visited the UNC campus to investigate some student-athletes.
“I can acknowledge that representatives from the NCAA have been to Chapel Hill to speak with some of our student-athletes. However, they have instructed us to maintain the confidence of this review by not discussing it publicly,” Baddour said.
“We have cooperated fully with the NCAA and will continue to do so.”
Associate Athletic Director Steve Kirschner said that the athletic department cannot acknowledge which sport the investigation pertains to, although WRAL’s Inside Carolina has reported that the student-athletes who being investigated are in the football program.
“It helps with their review if those details are not released publicly,” Kirschner said.
