North Carolina football coach Butch Davis has suspended senior defensive tackle Marvin Austin indefinitely, according to a press release from TarHeelBlue.
Austin was at the center of the NCAA investigation into football players’ dealings with sports agents, as well as being part of an investigation into possible academic misconduct. But Davis said the decision on Austin is not linked to the NCAA investigation.
“This decision is not a result of the ongoing NCAA review,” Davis said in the press release. “Marvin has violated team rules and has neglected his responsibilities to the team.”
Austin will not play Saturday against LSU.
